Detention officers within the Custody Bureau maintain the safety and security of the inmate population in the five Maricopa County detention facilities, the nation’s fourth largest. Detention officers provide daily necessities to those awaiting court and those who stay in our custody after sentencing. The MCSO is the primary booking facility in Maricopa County. The Custody Bureau’s Intake Division oversees this task by assisting numerous law enforcement agencies in booking inmates.
