As a victim of a crime, you have the right to attend the Initial Appearance hearing and share with the court a Victim Impact Statement. Use your Impact Statement to describe how this crime affected you and other members of the community.  Your Victim Impact Statement will become a permanent part of the court record; the defendant in your case will receive a copy of the Victim Impact Statement

 You can submit a Victim Impact Statement five ways:

  1. Online Use the online form below, to complete and submit your Impact Statement if you are unable or prefer not to appear at the Initial Appearance.

  2. Phone Contact the MCSO Victim Assistance and Notification Unit at 602-876-8276 for help with creating a Victim Impact Statement.

  3. Email Create your Victim Impact Statement and email to the Victim Assistance and Notification Unit VANU@MCSO.Maricopa.gov

  4. FAX Create your Impact Statement and FAX it to 602-252-5936

  5. In Person Please call for further information at 602-876-8276 (May be affected by COVID-19 Pandemic protocols)

Again, if you are unable or prefer not to appear at the Initial Appearance you may submit an Impact Statement online, by phone, or by FAX.

Your Statement will be given to the Judge and the Prosecutor; it will have the same impact as being present in court.

Please note: The Victim Impact Statement is not confidential.

A copy of the Impact Statement will be given to the Judge, Defense Attorney or Defendant and Prosecutor.

Do not include your address and phone number in the statement if you wish to keep it confidential.
